Join the MFMC adventure, helping you to: Connect with God; grow in faith and community; serve the greater Marysville area; and share God's story with our world.
Summer is about over. It's been pouring rain all day. September is here with school starts, football and soccer. We'll be starting some new ministries, some new Growth Groups and Bible Study groups as well as a new sermon series on The Prodigal God. For more info take a look at the MFMC calendar, our newsletter and the Growth pages on this site. Plan to hear some reports from the Teen Group's mission adventure to Mexico as well as Bethany's mission journey to Russia. We're also putting the finishing touches on the Acts sermon series.
It was a joy this past Sunday to dedicate a little baby and her parents to the Lord. It's an event that will be part of their story and retold to her later in life. This Sunday we open our bibles to Acts 19 and look at the apostle Paul's discipleship of the church in Ephesus around 50 A.D.. The Ephesus church of the 1st century was a group of people like you and me who loved God and were known for showing their love for God in action. That's why it's a warning lesson for us to read in Revelation chapter 2 that by 90 A.D. this church was held up as an example of what not to do! Yes, indeed, they had lost their first love. Bring your bible on Sunday and find out what this means for us. It's not about losing feelings which you now have to work up again. It's about doing something not feeling something. The writer of Revelation 2 tells the people in Ephesus to do two things, Remember and Redo. Here at MFMC we've taught a class to help couples tune-up theiir marriage. The class is called "10 Great Dates." The whole idea is going on 10 dates, wrapped around 10 important topics, in which you remember and redo. Interesting how those two actions can rekindle love. Don't feel guilty if you don't "feel" as a chrisitan like you did when you first started the journey. I'll be practical in Sunday's message and give you some practical ideas of things you might remember and redo which just might rekindle your love for God and his mission in your life. We'll also celebrate Communion. Keep an eye out for God's presence today and the rest of the week and we'll see you Sunday.
Don't forget that your life is always in mission wherever you go. Open yourself up to the touch of God around you as you live out the spirit of Jesus each and every day. See the miracles of God before you, enjoy his gifts and grace and let his Spirit live through you.
Hey, thanks to everyone who made the chuch picnic this past Sunday a lot of fun. I heard a rumor that you may see a picture of how much I enjoyed the pie eating contest! Also, sign up this Sunday to work at beautifying Jennings Park on Saturday September 11th from 9am to 1pm. This project is in part of a National wave of projects to remember and honor the memory of those who died on what we remember as 9-11.
Enjoy the journey! Pastor Vic
