Children Do Matter! PDF Print E-mail

What greater gift can you give you children than one that lasts for eternity? Passing on a heritage of faith is an incredible privilege God has given to parents. Here at Marysville FMC the pastoral team and children's ministry leaders and volunteers are excited about partnering with you as parents. We make a concerted effort to provide an environment in which children are affirmed and grow in excitement as they engage their senses, hearts and minds to discover that knowing Christ is the foundation to surviving and thriving in today's society. We strive to be a team and create a safe and caring place that is creative, relational, applicational, fun and transformational spiritually.

We focus on helping children understand that life is all about relationships - our relationship with God, our relationship with our family, and our relationship with others (Matthew 22:37-40). By providing foundational truths that expand according to the characteristics of your child's age, children come to realize that living their faith from the inside out is contagious and life changing whether at home, school or church. Discovering how people of faith and how Jesus lived out God's truths helps them to see that it is normal to have struggles, doubts, victories and success. Because God is a loving and gracious God, we try to provide that culture of love and grace.

God has given us His word, the Bible, to provide us with a moral and mental compass to help children and parents alike to develop consistent beliefs and practices as communicated in the Bible. The compass adjustments in our beliefs and behaviors provide us a true course to a daily destination of satisfaction and fulfillment. (2 Timothy 2:15, 3:14-17)

Jesus and others throughout spiritual history modeled how life is our classroom. As parents, how you live out and model your faith in God, impacts and shapes the  heart, soul and mind of your child. Take advantage of Life Focus classes to strengthen your skills in parenting and communication or growing in spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9-14). Focus on shoring up your foundation of faith by being rooted and grounded in Christ and the study of His word (Colossians 2:6-8). Check in with your children by listening to the stories of their day ...listen with an engaged heart, mind and eyes. Communicate in action and words your unconditional love.
