Life is a journey of faith that takes us though many landscapes. In the process of traveling, we find that we need to take some rest stops to renew, recharge and refocus. Rest stops along the interstate are necessary diversions to take care of life's essentials, such as the restroom! Sometimes we see an old freind driving beside us and we connect by agreeing to stop at the next rest stop to catch up. Sometimes we just need to get out to stretch our legs, or switch drivers. Power napping is often times what the weary body aches for. Refilling our coffee or snack supply doesn't hurt either. For men, our wives appreciate it when we review the map and confirm our destination. Occasionally the rest stop is a place to make tht phone call to give an estimated time of arrival or update on the journey. Let's face it, traveling tody just can not be done 24-7 without those kindof breaks. The same is true in our spiritual journey.

Here at Marysville FMC, we offer a series of core classes, called Discovery. Each of these classes/seminars are designed to function as a rest stop for spiritual sojourners looking to connect with God, grow in faith, serve others with satisfaction, and to share stories of experiences.

The dessert is an opportunity designed for those who have recently connected with Marysville FMC and want to have a general overview of who we are, what we do, and to meet the pastors and their spouses.

Discovery 101...Connecting With The Church & Making It Home

Whn you find yourself wanting to better understand the church's vision, mission, practices, and beliefs. this Discovery class will help. Following the two sessions, class attenders have the opportunity to decide if they wish to "formalize" their relationship with MFMC through church membership. Our Free Methodist tradition structures its governance through church members.

Discovery 200...Growing In Christian Beliefs

This class surveys the top Christianity FAQs through a summary of the major Christian doctrines. These doctrines studied are: God, The Bible, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, Angels, Man, Sin, Salvation, Sanctification, The Church, End Times. The emphasis is on knowing God more fully while understanding and practicing sound theology.

Discovery 201...Growing in Spiritual Dsciplines

This seminar is designed to help today's spiritual sojourner in recognizing and understanding basic spiritual practices that have help Christ-followers expereince spiritual growth and vitality. Topics include the different forms of prayer, Bible study methods, fasting, financial giving, and soul care.

Discovery 301...Discovering The Joy Of Serving

God has given to each of us interests and skills. When we put them to use and place a serving towel over our arm, we make a difference in our church, our community and in our world. Discover this joy with others when you participate in this class of self-discovery of your 'spiritual DNA" and be energized to make a difference.

Discovery 302...Sacred Pathways

God has wired each of us differently in how we approach Him, life, service and sharing. Using the resource authored by Gary Thomas of the same title, travelers discover that their journey is as much shaped by their personality as it it is by life experiences and the influences of others.

Discovery 401...Living LIfe With Purpose

Looking to live life with more clarity and intentionality? Seeking to understand what you re on earth for and what you have to offer. This seminar explores how we were created to: connect to God; grow to become like Christ; serve others with joy and satisfaction; share our lives on a God-given mission; and to experience the lifestyle of worshipping God. Through a series of assessments and time of reflection, you will come to a place of having greater clarity and purpose for daily living.
