2010 Annual Leadership Summit - Report of Delegates PDF Print E-mail

The Pacific Northwest Leadership Summit is the annual meeting for the Free Methodist churches from western and central Washington and Alaska (The Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free Methodist Church). Each church is represented by its pastor(s) and elected lay delegate(s). The recent summit was held at Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center, near Stanwood on June 18 &19th.

The summit included worship sessions and reports from missionaries sent out from this conference. Also reports were received from church leaders and committees of this conference and of the Free Methodist Church. Every five years the Free Methodist Church of North America and related mission conferences from around the world send delegates and meet for a General Conference. There bishops are elected, the church discipline is updated, and general business is conducted. This is the year that these delegates were elected.

Some of the highlights of the summit were:

· Hearing Katie Zook speak of her miraculous delivery and physical recovery from the Haiti earthquake

· Listening to the Willsons speak of their missionary work in Malawi

· Learning of water well drilling and filtering to bring safe water and reforestation efforts

· Commissioning of the first Free Methodist missionary to stop human trafficking and Commissioning of the Pastor of Rainier Ave FM church as part time missionary for leadership assistance and development for Latin America

· Electing our current Conference Superintendant for a new four year term

· Accepting new ministerial candidates

· Ordaining new Elders into the Conference for pastoral service

· Reports from Warm Beach Senor Community, Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center, and Seattle Pacific University

· Worshipping in song and a message from our Bishop and the State of the Work from our Conference Superintendent

· Receiving of an offering for a newer used but dependable vehicle for missionary Phyllis Sorter, Nigeria, Africa; and, to support Special Needs overnight camps at Warm Beach Camp. A total of $38,250 was received in an offering and pledges. (On behalf of MFMC we pledged $1,000 to be submitted no later than Dec, 1, 2010.)

· Commissioning church pastors for service for the coming year.

The theme for the summit was from Acts 14:27: “…They gathered the church together and reported all that God had done….” When it was over there was a new feeling of expectation and thanksgiving for all God has done.
